Fresh new season. Fresh new respect.

A new football season, a new group of buddies, a new romantic interest, more fun than the year before, same ol' f*cking drinking standards. Gosh, the whole college binge drinking scene plus pressure to drink plus disrespect/intolerance really gets to me... Now, don't get me wrong, I don't want to come off as a prude and say "zero drinking, zero fun." No. These are the college years! Just do it responsibly! This idea that we need to "pre-game" or get smashed in order to have fun is bull. And drinking games are way fun! But if I want to be included and not drink, that should be cool. Respect your buddies and other people's decisions to not drink. Be tolerant of those who both are drinking and those who aren't. And no, "free beer" is not a legit reason for why I *have* to drink your beer.

On the flip side, damn I'm growing up. Each year my new group of friends is more and more mature, more responsible, more understanding, makes me feel so much more comfortable, and in return, makes the new football season the best yet! So thank you guys. On that note, Go Utes! And more importantly... GO COLTS!

This post tonight is for J - a dear and beloved friend whom I look up to and thank God everyday for - who's time in SLC has come to an end. He requested that I write about our lovely dinner at Squatters tonight!! All I can say is: cheap, delicious food, fantastic friends, booze, "that's what she said," and lots and lots of laughter. Quote of the night had to be "THAT'S NOT CREAM SODA..!!" haha Oh man, how I'm going to miss that guy... ah here come the tears again. So many good times and many more to come.
